eSignLive Sets the Record Straight on the Role of PKI in eGovernment Initiatives

March 2, 2005

Montreal, QC, March 3, 2005 — Silanis Technology, the market leader in automating business approval processes, today announced an educational web seminar designed to address the role of Public Key Infrastructures (PKI) in eGovernment. This free web seminar taking place on Thursday, March 24th will cover the basics of approval process automation, PKI, and public key-enabled applications.

Most organizations today recognize that to realize the full benefit of any eGovernment initiative, approval processes must be brought online and one of the critical elements of automating electronic signature and approvals is establishing reliable user authentication. The role of PKI technology in user authentication is complex and the security issues must be evaluated both from a technology and business perspective.

“The most common misconception we’ve seen is that a full PKI needs to be in place prior to implementing approval automation processes,” says Tommy Petrogiannis, president of Silanis. “The reality is that depending on the level of risk in a given business process as well as the nature of the process itself, different user authentication methods are appropriate.”

Participants will gain a better understanding of the different approaches to user authentication they can take when enabling end-to-end processing within their organizations.

The web seminar runs from 12:00 till 1:00 PM EST on Thursday, March 24, 2005. For more information, or to register, please visit www.silanis.com/webseminar/ or call 1-888-SILANIS, ext. 2.
