OAKBROOK TERRACE, Illinois and BRUSSELS, Belgium – October 21, 2004 – VASCO Data Security (Nasdaq: VDSI: www.vasco.com), a global provider of enterprise-wide security products that support e-business and e-commerce, today announced that it has launched VACMAN Middleware 2.3, the latest version of its server product for the Corporate Network Access (remote access) market.

VACMAN Middleware 2.3 boasts an important number of new features, including:
• Virtual Digipass Functionality: A one-time password is generated by VACMAN Middleware at login-time and sent to the end-user’s mobile phone via SMS (text) message. Virtual Digipass can be used as a primary authentication method or as a back-up system. The latter means that users having forgotten/lost their hardware Digipass, can still receive one-time passwords via SMS. The administrator can decide the period of time and the number of authentications granted to every person using Virtual Digipass as a back-up system.
• New MMC based Administration Interface: VACMAN Middleware and Digipass administration tools have been embedded in a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) based interface. This features makes the life of the administrator a lot easier, because the standard MMC features (customisable columns, export to file, etc) and the full Digipass administration, PIN and Digipass reset functionalities, are in the same interface. In addition, the interface offers the ability to connect to multiple servers simultaneously.

VACMAN Middleware is the backbone of Digipass Pack, VASCO’s off the shelf product aimed at the Corporate Network Access (C.N.A.) market. Digipass Pack consists of a VACMAN Middleware software license, a number of Digipass strong authentication tokens and a maintenance contract. Digipass Pack is especially designed for SME’s wanting an easy to install strong authentication plug-in for infrastructures and solutions by VASCO’s solution partners, such as Citrix, MS Outlook Web Access, Netscreen, Watchguard, etc.
