eSignLive Awarded Entrust-Ready DesignationEntrust-enabled organizations can e-sign right away

September 25, 2000

Montreal, Qc, September 26, 2000 — Silanis Technology Inc. announced today that its leading electronic signature and approval management solution, ApproveIt, was awarded Entrust-Ready™ status with Entrust/PKI™ 5.0 public-key infrastructure software. By earning Entrust-Ready status, companies can now integrate ApproveIt’s legally binding electronic signature technology with their Entrust/PKI solution for complete, secure end-to-end transmission of digital documents.

One of the only electronic signature solutions to provide immediate application-level support for PKI, ApproveIt combines the user authentication capabilities of Entrust/PKI with its document authentication management features and electronic signature capabilities throughout an approval process. When applied to complex business approvals, ApproveIt allows organizations to eliminate the time delays and costs associated with traditional paper-based processes while Entrust/PKI authenticates user identity using digital certificates and signatures.

“ApproveIt’s Entrust-Ready status is a recognition of customers’ demand for electronic signature solutions that work with PKI,” said Michael Laurie, Vice-President of Alliances at Silanis. “Organizations want to electronically sign documents to speed-up the approval process, but they also want to trust that the signature is executed by the authorized user. Integrating ApproveIt with Entrust meets both of those challenges and will only enhance eBusiness initiatives.”

Requiring no additional programming or lengthy implementation period, ApproveIt supports multiple signature approval processes and batch form processing across multiple applications such as Microsoft Office, PDF, JetForm FormFlow, HTML, and XML. Its ease of use and implementation do not require companies to reengineer their approval processes, allowing them to move their approval processes on-line today.

“On October 1 in the U.S., electronic signatures will gain the same status as pen and paper-based signatures resulting in more widespread applicability for the secure signing of digital documents worldwide,” said Brian O’Higgins, executive-vice president and CTO, Entrust Technologies Inc. “Silanis’s Entrust-Ready electronic signature application works in concert with our market-leading PKI solution for quick and easy implementation of legally binding e-signatures, complemented by an Entrust digital certificate to ensure strong authentication of all parties participating in a transaction.”
