eSignLive Presents on the Mortgage Industry's SMART Document Standard at RSA Conference 2005

February 9, 2005

Montreal, QC, February 10, 2005 — Silanis, the leading provider of solutions that automate the business approval process, announced today that Francois Leblanc, Director of Technical Services, will present at the upcoming RSA Conference 2005 in San Francisco, CA. The session, scheduled for Friday, February 18, 2005 at 11:10 am, is part of the conference’s Standards Track designed to explore industry efforts towards developing a universal security language for domestic and international security/crypto standardization projects.

Mr. Leblanc’s presentation, “The Mortgage Industry’s SMART Document Standard” will address the standards developed in the mortgage industry to ensure a smooth flow of documents and data between parties. In early 2003, the Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO) announced the release of eMortgage Guidelines and Recommendations Version 1.0, which provides a framework for implementing paperless mortgages with electronic signatures. This framework is based on the concept of a Securable, Manageable, Achievable, Retrievable and Transferable (SMART) Documents. In this session, Mr. Leblanc will cover an overview of SMART Documents and will explain the related challenges and business objectives.

“Today, standards play a critical role in enabling industries to move processes into the electronic realm,” said Francois Leblanc, director of technical services at Silanis. “The mortgage industry has made significant advances in building and leveraging standards and many of the concepts can easily scale to other industries and applications.”

As the Director of Technical Services for Silanis’ Client Services group, Mr. Leblanc has been instrumental in ensuring that Silanis’ products meet current and emerging market requirements. He is actively involved in driving industry standards development for electronic signatures within a number of markets, including financial services and government. Mr. Leblanc is an active member of the Mortgage Bankers Association Mortgage Industry Maintenance Standards Organization (MISMO) and served on the Mortgage Electronic Registration System (MERS) E-Registry Development Advisory Team, a group that developed an industry-wide registration system for mortgage notes.

Silanis will be available for press briefings at the show. If you would like to arrange a meeting or a demonstration of Silanis’ technology, please contact Mary Ellen Power at (514) 337-5255 ext. 1117 or email [email protected].
