news_IDENTIKEY federated authentication extends access control across multiple applications and unconnected networks
IDENTIKEY Federation Server is used to validate user credentials across multiple applications and disparate networks. The solution validates users and creates an identity ticket enabling web single sign-on for different applications across organizational boundaries. As validated credentials can be reused, once a user’s identity is confirmed, access to authorized services and applications is granted. Users can securely switch between the different applications and collaborate with colleagues, business partners, suppliers, customers and partners using one single identity.
The web single sign-on feature provided by IDENTIKEY Federation Server greatly enhances end-user experience. End-users saves time by sidestepping different logon procedures and are no longer obliged to memorize several password and username combinations. The company’s administrator’s task is equally simplified. IDENTIKEY Federation Server comes with a single administrative interface and user repository removing the burden of maintaining diverse password databases and different authorization and authentication policies for each application separately.
IDENTIKEY Federation Server can be linked to most web applications that use a SAML 2.0 interface. Additionally, VASCO offers its consultancy and professional services to customize its solution for cases where a SAML interface is not available.
The server supports different types of authentication methods that can be combined with or tied to a specific application. Organizations that want to add an additional security layer using dynamic passwords, can implement VASCO’s standard IDENTIKEY Server as back-end authentication software. IDENTIKEY Server and Federation Server both work seamlessly together with VASCO’s DIGIPASS range which includes both hardware and software authentication methods.
“With IDENTIKEY Federation Server which supports web SSO federated authentication and the possibility to integrate DIGIPASS technology, VASCO proves that implementing a security infrastructure guaranteeing secure access across multiple applications and platforms can be a straightforward process without compromising on user or administrator convenience and cost-efficiency. With a continuous growing number of web-based applications that each require their own login, IDENTIKEY Federation Server can bring user experience to a new level while reducing overall complexity”, says Jan Valcke, President and COO of VASCO.VASCO is a leading supplier of strong authentication and e-signature solutions and services specializing in Internet security applications and transactions.
