August 16, 2001

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. and BRUSSELS, Belgium – August 16, 2001 – VASCO (Nasdaq NM & Nasdaq Europe: VDSI; www.vasco.com) announced today that Netegrity (Nasdaq: NETE; www.netegrity.com) has integrated native support for VASCO’s Digipass® family of two-factor authenticators into its award-winning SiteMinder® platform for securely managing e-business applications. Netegrity’s current and prospective customers can now easily apply Digipass strong authentication to their web portals and e-business applications secured by SiteMinder, with no additional software necessary. In addition, SiteMinder customers can choose from an expanding array of secure user platforms from VASCO, including hardware authenticators and smart cards, Digipass software, and Digipass-enabled mobile phones and PDA’s.

“We have more than 370 customers today that, thanks to SiteMinder, are successfully and securely bringing their business processes to the web,” said Tony Caine, EMEA Managing Director of Netegrity. “Many of them are evaluating strong authentication for specific aspects of their e-business initiatives. We’re pleased to offer them the capability to complement SiteMinder security with Digipass strong, two-factor authentication.”

With almost 6 million Digipass authenticators sold, VASCO is a world leader in authentication, and the market leader in authenticating and digitally signing online financial transactions. Netegrity is the leading provider of software solutions for securely managing e-business, relied on by companies worldwide to control user access to e-business Web sites, seamlessly create e-partnerships, and secure business-to-business transactions. Together, the two companies’ integrated product lines offers corporations, financial institutions, and government agencies a highly secure yet easy-to-use solution.

Digipass utilizes patented dynamic password and digital signature technologies to help ensure positive identification of remote users and the integrity of data and transactions. VASCO has also responded to the growing concerns of security and network administrators for easier authentication management at a low total cost of ownership. Moreover, all Digipass platforms are fully interoperable, allowing organizations to migrate to or add other Digipass platforms, such as PDA’s, without changing their existing IT infrastructure.

“We are seeing increased demand for our Digipass strong authentication and digital signature capabilities to support e-business and e-commerce, whether it’s safeguarding someone’s personal identity and information, protecting online banking and credit card transactions, or securing access to sensitive information on a company extranet,” said Jan Valcke, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for VASCO. “This partnership between two market leaders in e-business security gives existing as well as new VASCO and Netegrity customers more options than ever to effectively secure their web-based business initiatives.”
