March 6, 2012

Unique offering for website owners provides free strong authentication to conveniently secure access to password protected content; Free services program is ultimate step in DIGIPASS as a Service strategy to reach consumer market; Special promotion package for first 50 web application providers signing up

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Illinois and ZURICH, Switzerland – March 6, 2012 - VASCO Data Security International, Inc. (Nasdaq: VDSI) (www.vasco.com), a leading software security company specializing in authentication products announces today the next step in its DIGIPASS as a Service strategy with a new free services program for web application providers/web site owners. VASCO’s objective is to reach out to every web application provider that offers services to businesses and consumers. The company plans to offer paying “Premium” services in a later phase.

The new program is open for everyone who owns a website with password protected content. Web application owners can integrate a button on their website at no cost, allowing their users to activate and use one-time password technology to log-on. Online application providers will thus be able to eliminate all support and back-office costs related to password management for their customer base, while protecting the content of their site with one-time passwords that are more secure than any static user name or PIN code.

The program has two offerings: “Free” and “Premium”.

  • The “Free” offering includes free OTP authentication and a free mobile DIGIPASS client for end-users. Additionally, application providers will receive a commission fee for every end-user that will use the authentication portal to sign up with other “Premium” web application providers.
  • The “Premium” offering includes all features of the free offering but web application providers will additionally receive stronger security, branded mobile authentication clients, marketing tools, telephone support and other services including statistics on user behavior. The Premium category will be a paid service.

Web application providers can join the program as of today. For early adopters, VASCO launches a special promotion: the first 50 application providers signing up can make use of “Premium” services free of charge for the duration of one year. This promotion is valid until April 23, 2012. Interested companies can request more information about the program via [email protected].

“The launch of this program for web application providers is the next big step in our DIGIPASS as a Service offering,” says T. Kendall Hunt, Chairman & CEO of VASCO Data Security. “The services program offers every application provider with an easy to integrate solution that helps to reduce costs while at the same time enhancing user convenience for customers which helps him to gain a competitive advantage. We offer an exceptional promotional offer for the first 50 application providers that sign up. Our goal is to reach as many web application providers as possible.”

“Our push towards web site owners fits perfectly in our services business model,” adds Jan Valcke, VASCO’s President & COO. “It is our objective that in the future, DIGIPASS client products will be distributed to the consumers for free, while the use of DIGIPASS will be paid.”

Integration of DIGIPASS technology into the application’s website is a straightforward and simple task. VASCO has developed different tools to assist application providers with the integration. “Developer.mydigipass.com” is an integration tool specifically designed for application providers and guides them step by step through the integration process. In “sandbox.mydigipass.com” application providers will consequently be able to test the integrated authentication in a full blown testing environment without impacting their live infrastructure. A demo of the developer.mydigipass.com tools can be viewed on: developer.mydigipass.com. After registration, you can freely access the demo.
