eSignLive electronic signatures add support for Microsoft Office XP and Adobe Digital Signature Architecture to its list of open standards

July 30, 2001

Organizations have even more choices and flexibility for integrating e-signing into their business processes

Montreal, Qc, July 31, 2001 — Silanis Technology Inc. today announced that its new 5.1 release of ApproveIt® Desktop electronic signature and approval management software is now shipping with support for Microsoft® Office® XP and the new Adobe® Digital Signature Architecture. With the addition of these new features, ApproveIt Desktop continues to respond to customer needs by enabling the most numerous business file formats to be electronically signed, and adapting to any application environment and business process.

Microsoft Office XP builds upon ApproveIt Desktop’s support for Microsoft® Word, Microsoft® Excel, Adobe® Acrobat®, JetForm® FormFlow®, Autodesk® AutoCAD® 2000I, HTML and XML. Documents electronically signed using ApproveIt Desktop can then be securely routed using standard email or a secure message delivery service; and stored within a document management system, network or hard drive.

“Silanis’ continued support for open standards and widely used business applications provides organizations with maximum flexibility, security and choice for integrating e-signing into their daily processes,” said Tommy Petrogiannis, President of Silanis. “Our easy ‘One-Pen™’ approach for signing all document types, regardless of the complexity of the signing process or the application environment, has been key to our success and the reason why over 900 organizations are using our electronic signature solutions today.”

ApproveIt Desktop 5.1 takes electronic signatures beyond just signing. Its support for XML standards also enables post-signing processes to be automatically triggered by any complimentary XML-based application to provide end-to-end automation. For example, data from an electronically signed agreement can automatically trigger the generation of a purchase order, invoice or shipping notice without the need to re-key the information. As such, ApproveIt Desktop 5.1 is an ideal companion for customer resource management, electronic HR/administration, and e-Procurement solutions.

ApproveIt Desktop 5.1 also enables organizations to deploy electronic signatures without the need for 3rd party public key infrastructure (PKI). By using the native PKI provided by Microsoft CAPI that ships with Microsoft Windows operating systems, ApproveIt Desktop 5.1 will generate its own self-issued digital certificate. Should organizations have a 3rd party PKI in place or decide to integrate PKI at a future date, ApproveIt Desktop 5.1 works seamlessly with 3rd party infrastructures and any x.509 v3 digital certificates.

“ApproveIt Desktop leverages organizations’ IT investments so that they aren’t forced to change their business processes to accommodate electronic signing,” added Petrogiannis. “It’s business as usual, except now signatures are captured faster, cheaper and more efficiently.”
