DIGIPASS 810 e-ID generates MYDIGIPASS.COM one-time passwords with Belgian e-ID card

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Illinois and ZURICH, Switzerland – September 26, 2012 – VASCO Data Security International, Inc. (Nasdaq: VDSI; www.vasco.com), a leading software security company specializing in strong authentication products launches today DIGIPASS 810 e-ID for MYDIGIPASS.COM. This newest DIGIPASS device offers the possibility to authenticate and generate OTPs through the use of a Belgian e-ID card and the PIN code linked to the e-ID. With the launch of DIGIPASS 810 e-ID, VASCO enables consumers to safely access websites secured by MYDIGIPASS.COM with their e-ID, ensuring authentication yet by another user-friendly means.

A growing number of countries are rolling out smart chip enabled ID cards for their citizens. Although DIGIPASS 810 e-ID is developed for the Belgian e-ID card, VASCO can localize the product to other countries and other applications. DIGIPASS 810 e-ID creates many possibilities to use e-ID cards for secure and convenient online transactions worldwide.

Financial transactions, shopping, gaming and other activities are increasingly done through online applications. These applications however, are more and more targeted by fraudsters trying to gain information on users for their own financial profit. By implementing MYDIGIPASS.COM technology on their websites, corporations worldwide offer their customers the possibility to securely use their online services.

When logging on to an online application or website, the end-user clicks on the MYDIGIPASS.COM button on the website and generates an OTP by inserting his e-ID card in the DIGIPASS 810 e-ID reader and entering the e-ID’s PIN code. By filling out this OTP during the authentication process, the login will no longer be susceptible for online attacks.

To simplify secure online authentication and to increase awareness of secured websites, users can consult the MYDIGIPASS.COM platform where a launch pad and market place give an overview of secured ASPs.

“With DIGIPASS 810 e-ID we offer the Belgian consumer yet another way to safely perform online transactions”, says Jan Valcke, President and COO of VASCO Data Security. “An e-ID card is the perfect personal authentication solution. Together with the PIN code and the DIGIPASS 810 e-ID reader, it is a convenient tool to create OTPs and with this a secure manner to securely share personal information.”
