eSignLive Appoints Former Netscape And Ernst & Young Principal As Chief Technology Officer

Montreal, QC, November 28, 2000 – Silanis Technology Inc., a leading provider of electronic signature and approval management software, today announced the appointment of Robert Y. Al-Jaar as the company’s Chief Technology Officer. With over 18 years of Information Technology experience working for companies like Netscape Communications, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, and Digital Equipment Corporation and a PhD in Computer and Systems Engineering, Mr. Al-Jaar will lead the development of Silanis’ thin client, cross-platform versions of its electronic signature products for the Web.

Prior to joining Silanis, Mr. Al-Jaar held the position of Senior Manager at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young where he was responsible for driving eBusiness activities in Quebec and Eastern Canada. In that role, he educated client executives in eCommerce concepts and how to apply them to their specific needs, and developed the eBusiness strategy for clients in the pharmaceutical, telecommunications, manufacturing and financial services industries.

Mr. Al-Jaar was also a Managing Principal at Netscape Communications Professional Services and Vice-President and Founding Partner of PHOENIX Methodologies where his responsibilities included business development, and delivering Internet strategy and eBusiness services. In addition, Mr. Al-Jaar was a Principal Consultant for the consulting division of Digital Equipment Corporation and has also held several engineering positions with the company. His responsibilities included business process reengineering, business solutions architecture and deployment, systems capacity planning, and software performance engineering.

Mr. Al-Jaar received his B.S.E.E. from McGill University in Montreal and both his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. He has authored over twenty-five refereed publications and has been honored with awards such as the Engineering and Service Excellence Award and the Engineering Team Achievement Award at Digital Equipment Corporation. He is also a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Computer Society, as well as a member of the Association of Computing Machinery and SIGmetrics.
