eSignLive to discuss electronic signatures at the Department of Energy's CyberSecurity conference

April 24, 2006

Montreal, QC, April 25, 2006 — Silanis Technology, the industry’s most experienced electronic signature provider with more than two million government and commercial users, today announced that it will present “Security in Electronic Signatures & Documents” at the 2006 Department of Energy, Computer Security Training Conference. The company’s co-founder and president, Tommy Petrogiannis, will discuss how electronic signatures, as a public key-enabled application, can be used with government security systems to eliminate paper from document approval processes.

“Electronic signatures are an essential part of any eGovernment initiative,” said Petrogiannis. “Without them, processes will only be partially automated and government departments will remain burdened by the cost and inconvenience of printing to paper whenever a signature is required.”

Mr. Petrogiannis will draw from Silanis’ extensive experience deploying electronic signatures within the U.S. government to illustrate how they can be integrated with existing and evolving technology infrastructures to provide the highest levels of user and data authentication.

As one of the examples, Mr. Petrogiannis will address how the U.S. Army has combined Silanis’ electronic signatures with PKI, real-time CRL verification using OCSP, common access cards (CAC), and electronic forms to reduce the time, risk and cost of authorizing their mission-critical, defense activities worldwide.

During the course of the presentation, Mr. Petrogiannis will also discuss the pros and cons of various approaches to security as it relates to user authentication, document integrity, information privacy and authoritative copies. Armed with a comprehensive risk assessment checklist, attendees will be able to avoid many of the common misconceptions about security that result in failed implementations.

Mr. Petrogiannis is scheduled to speak as part of the Management Track at 4:00 on Tuesday, April 25, 2006. For more information about the 2006 Department of Energy, Computer Security Training Conference in Dayton, Ohio, please visit: http://cybertrain.labworks.org/conferences/april2006/
