March 2, 2000

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Illinois, March 2, 2000 – VASCO Data Security International, Inc. (OTC BB: VDSI.OB; www.vasco.com) announced today that Southern California Edison (SCE) has chosen VASCO’s SnareWorks™ software to provide e-commerce and enterprise-wide security for the company. One of the largest electric utilities in the US, serving more than eleven million business and residential customers, Southern California Edison will draw on SnareWorks to develop the security architecture for its customer-focused Internet initiatives, as well as for the company’s enterprise-wide and web-based Single Sign-On infrastructure.

Offered by the IntelliSoft division of VASCO, SnareWorks provides true Single-Sign-On security, PKI and LDAP enablement, web portal security, access control, and user administration. SnareWorks has the capability to encompass and secure mainframe, client/server, and web-based environments and applications – a benefit recognized by Southern California Edison during its evaluation. Like many companies, SCE has a large and varied distributed networking environment running a wide range of products and services, which includes legacy applications as well as Internet, intranet, and extranet authentication requirements.

Jonathan Chinitz, General Manager of VASCO’s IntelliSoft division, said that "we’re pleased that Southern California Edison has put its trust in SnareWorks software for its current and long-term security needs. This represents another example of the growing need for security solutions that span the enterprise and the Internet, effectively and affordably."
