NW_20010611_en_VASCO Announces New Security Software Enabling Secure Single Sign-on and Access Control for Web

June 11, 2001

GARTNER, INC. 7TH ANNUAL INFORMATION SECURITY CONFERENCE, ORLANDO, Fl. – June 11, 2001 – VASCO (Nasdaq NM & Nasdaq Europe: VDSI; www.vasco.com), a global provider of security solutions that enable e-business and e-commerce, today announced the general availability of VACMAN Enterprise 4.0, the Company’s enterprise security software product. With the launch of VACMAN Enterprise 4.0 (previously known as SnareWorks), VASCO further establishes itself as a global security software provider with an extensive product offering to allow any organization to secure its business initiatives easily and with a low Total Cost of Ownership.

Today, organizations ranging from leading corporations such as Allmerica Financial, a $30 billion US financial services company, to the US Department of Defense are relying on VACMAN Enterprise 4.0 for providing secure single sign-on (SSO) and access control for their web, client/server, and legacy applications. VACMAN Enterprise 4.0 allows security or network administrators to easily manage large numbers of user privileges and entitlements across all applications and platforms, eliminating the need for proprietary and redundant security systems, including application-specific access controls.

According to VACMAN Enterprise Product Manager Phil Myers, one of the key new benefits of VACMAN Enterprise 4.0 is Virtual LDAP, which allows organizations to leverage their existing IT infrastructure. “Virtual LDAP streamlines the integration of VACMAN Enterprise into any existing LDAP environment with its ability to interface with any LDAP-compliant version 2 or 3 directory. This not only provides support for an unlimited number of different LDAP directories, it also can be used to deploy VACMAN Enterprise with customers that have not established a corporate LDAP infrastructure. Our beta customers have tested and endorsed this capability, along with other major product enhancements.”

“VACMAN Enterprise 4.0 further expands VASCO’s authentication, authorization, and administration security software product offering for our customers and prospects around the globe, which will help us meet increasing demand in the market,” said Jan Valcke, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for VASCO. “We are able to provide a range of business-enabling security products for our customers that encompass multiple platforms to ensure user acceptance, and which span all market-leading operating systems for maximum flexibility and market reach.”

Note: In April 2001, Gartner issued a research report on VASCO’s VACMAN Enterprise product (referred to in the report under its former name, SnareWorks). For more information about the report or to obtain the report, go to the Gartner website at www.gartner.com.
