May 4, 2010

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Illinois and ZURICH, Switzerland – May 4, 2010 – VASCO Data Security International, Inc. (Nasdaq: VDSI; www.vasco.com), a leading software security company specializing in strong authentication products, announced that the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) has opted for best-of-breed strong authentication by implementing VASCO’s DIGIPASS® for Web and VACMAN® Controller. VASCO’s solutions will be deployed to guarantee secure access to OHFA’s Lender Online portal.

For over 25 years, the Ohio Housing Finance Agency has helped low- to moderate-income Ohioans purchase new homes or find quality, affordable rental housing. OHFA’s mission is opening the door to an affordable place to call home, by maintaining partnerships with lenders, real estate agents, affordable housing developers and non-profit organizations. OHFA also offers banks and mortgage companies a variety of loan products, services, and information. OHFA’s Lender Online portal is an important tool that allows participating lenders to enter reservations, check the status of loans, download reports and pre-filled program forms, read bulletins, check the allocation status, view updates and special program announcements, and much more.

To ensure user security and to protect financial data from being intercepted, OHFA has decided to protect their Lender Online portal by implementing VASCO’s DIGIPASS for Web. DIGIPASS for Web is a flexible and user-friendly solution designed to replace static passwords with strong authentication without impacting the end-user.

Lender Online is a solution designed by Emphasys Software, the largest full-service provider to serve the public housing, housing finance, and redevelopment marketplace. Hundreds of public housing authorities (PHAs) and housing finance agencies (HFAs) rely on Emphasys software and services. Emphasys helps them to migrate to complete, integrated application infrastructures, providing workflow analysis through data conversion, training, go-live and post-implementation phases.

“By choosing VASCO’s solutions to secure the Lender Online portal, the Ohio Housing Finance Agency has opted for best-of-breed strong authentication. Information security is paramount to their business, and two-factor authentication is increasingly becoming a requirement of banks and financial institutions. DIGIPASS for Web is an ideal solution: it can guarantee user security and make sure important financial data remain protected. Furthermore, it is very easy to implement and to use, as it requires no hardware to carry around and no additional software to install on the user’s computers”, explained Jan Valcke, President and COO at VASCO Data Security.

For over 25 years, the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) has made affordable housing opportunities available to low- to moderate-income Ohioans. OHFA’s services help Ohio’s first-time homebuyers, renters, senior citizens, and many others. Formerly a division of the Ohio Department of Development, OHFA became an independent state agency in 2005.
