OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill., and BRUSSELS, Belgium, March 11, 2005 - VASCO Data Security International, Inc. (Nasdaq: VDSI) (www.vasco.com), the global number one vendor of strong user authentication products to the financial sector, today announced that Volkswagen Bank (Germany) has chosen VASCO’s Digipass GO3 as the strong authentication component for its online-banking application.
By using Digipass GO3, Volkswagen Bank offers its end-users a cost effective and easy to use alternative for PIN-TAN lists or RSA-scripted security Discs and an effective protection against fraud scams such as phishing, called “Bankey”. Volkswagen Bank is the first bank in Germany to protect its online retail banking customers with strong authentication.
In order to honour Volkswagen Bank’s focus on innovation and its visionary approach of security in an e-banking environment, VASCO has awarded Volkswagen Bank during CeBIT 2005 in Hanover (Germany) on March 11. The award consists of a sculpture by the Belgian artist Inge Dewilde.
“Security, mobility and customer satisfaction are very important for Volkswagen Bank,” said Rainer Blank, Managing Director of Volkswagen Bank GmbH. “We have chosen VASCO’s innovative Digipass GO 3 for our online-banking application because of VASCO’s track record as a security company, the easy use of “Bankey” (Digipass GO3) and the wide variety of customisation possibilities of the token.”
“We want to congratulate Volkswagen Bank for its visionary approach of secure e-banking,” said Jan Valcke, VASCO’s President and COO. “Volkswagen Bank is the first German bank that uses strong authentication combined with mobility to protect its retail account holders. We are convinced that Volkswagen Bank’s “Bankey” online-banking application will prove to be very successful.”
