eSignLive awarded GSA contract for its multi-signature, electronic approval software

April 17, 2000

Silanis Technology Inc. announced today that ApproveIt™ has been awarded a GSA (General Services Administration) contract with the US Federal Government.

(FOSE) Washington, DC, April 18, 2000 — Silanis Technology Inc. announced today that its leading ApproveIt™ electronic signature approval software has been awarded a GSA (General Services Administration) contract with the US Federal Government. Now government agencies can easily purchase ApproveIt and take advantage of its advanced multi-signature, electronic approval capabilities.

As the only out-of-the-box solution to support multiple signature approvals and sectional form signing, ApproveIt enables government divisions to move all their paper-based signature approvals on-line with no additional hardware, software or programming. Over 25 government agencies and bureaus are currently using ApproveIt within the DOD, Air Force, Army, Navy, Federal Civilian, and State and Local governments. They include the Joint Chiefs of Staff, NORAD Space Command, NASA, NAVSEA, US Army and the States of California, Florida and Kansas.

Using a unique technology called Intelligent Approval™, ApproveIt permanently binds multiple electronic signatures to the exact contents of a document or form. Once electronic signatures are applied, they cannot be deleted or transferred into another document or form, nor can the contents be changed without the signature becoming invalid. This protects the integrity of all signatures and the document's contents.

"ApproveIt is as secure … even slightly more secure than paper," says a Joint Chiefs of Staff official who uses ApproveIt - along with 1,500 other staff members - to electronically sign and route highly sensitive documents. "The final hurdle was providing the highest echelons of the Staff with a means to securely hand sign documents electronically. ApproveIt provided us with that capability."

The U.S. Army Personnel Command uses ApproveIt to electronically approve, route and archive 35 to 40 forms used to enlist new recruits. With ApproveIt, it is expected that the U.S. Army Personnel Command will be able to meet their mandate of paper reduction, as well as their goals to increase efficiency and improve the accuracy of data capture and document retrieval.

The Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (STARS), a surveillance and target acquisition project that provides information for peacekeeping or decision-making on the battlefield, has also integrated ApproveIt into their workflow system. Dispersed between several command posts, the program's personnel encountered daily problems in transmitting and exchanging critical documents in an efficient and timely manner. With ApproveIt, up to 800 users can now electronically approve and authenticate any electronic document created in their MS-Office application.

As an out-of-the-box solution, ApproveIt 4.5 can be seamlessly combined with an organization's existing infrastructure and workflow. Its wide-range support for industry standard software includes JetForm FormFlow, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat PDF. It also supports signing of HTML applications, for applications delivered through the Internet. This enables organizations to move signature approvals on-line today with no additional programming or training.

"ApproveIt is a natural complement to JetForm's FormFlow e-forms processing software," said Dave Welch, e-forms group product manager at JetForm. "The combined Silanis and JetForm solution automates and simplifies complicated approval processes into a single, paperless process."

The Federal market is a key strategic customer for Silanis. Silanis's US headquarters and worldwide sales management is located in Washington DC to better serve the US Government. Lynne Boyd - Silanis's Vice President of Worldwide Sales and former Sr. VP at JetForm - has many years of sales experience within the government sector.

ApproveIt 4.5 is Silanis's fourth generation electronic signature software and can be purchased from VARs, or directly from Silanis at 1-888-SILANIS. GSA schedule: GS-35F-0337K. Valid: April 5, 2000 - April 4, 2005.
