ApproveIt Desktop 5.9 Completed JITC Certification

June 26, 2008

With the latest version of its award-winning e-signature solution now JITC-certified, Silanis confirms its status as the de facto e-signature standard in DoD. This certification demonstrates Silanis' continued commitment to its Army, Navy and Air Force customers.

Montreal, QC, June 7 2008 - Leading e-signature provider Silanis announced today that version 5.9 of its award-winning ApproveIt?Desktop electronic signature software had received certification by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC).

JITC provides a full-range of agile and cost-effective test, evaluation and certification services to support the DoD's rapid acquisition and fielding of global, net-centric warfighting capabilities.

This certification ensures that ApproveIt Desktop 5.9 is fully compliant with the interoperability requirements of the Department of Defense's Public-Key Infrastructure (DoD PKI).

Silanis has the most JITC certifications of any electronic signature solution provider. This latest brings its number of JITC certification awards to ten. ApproveIt Desktop, Silanis' flagship product supports IBM Lotus Forms, Adobe Acrobat 8.1 and Microsoft Office 2007, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Windows XP SP2 and Vista, making it a truly "One Pen Solution®."

“Support for the most commonly used applications is important because it allows organizations to use the application that makes the most sense for their process," said Silanis President Tommy Petrogiannis. "You wouldn't want to sign timesheets in Word, or a contract in Excel, for instance."

"It also allows organizations to standardize on an electronic signature solution enterprise-wide, rather than reengineering each process to fit the signing technology.”

Public key-enabled ApproveIt Desktop also leverages the Department of Defense's public-key infrastructure (DoD PKI) to ensure the highest level of user and data authentication, while creating a signed record of a person’s intent.

Silanis e-signatures are a quick and easy way for organizations to derive value from their existing security infrastructure, because they integrate with it, and use whichever credentials are already in place -- an especially important feature in government, where norms often evolving.

The US Army has an enterprise license with Silanis to sign its most popular document formats, as part of the US Army Publishing Content Management System (APCMS). A US Army audit estimates the US Army will save $1.3 billion annually, once APCMS is fully deployed.

The US Air Force has also standardized on Silanis’ server-based e-signing solution to enable Web-based form approvals through its Global Combat Support System (GCSS), a service-oriented architecture that gives warfighters instant, secure access to logistics information worldwide.
