Montreal, Quebec, Canada - May 21, 1999 — Silanis Technology Inc.™ announced today its sponsorship of a mission to Bogota, Columbia, organized by Missions Commerciales Étudiantes Inc., a non-profit organization founded and managed by students from the Faculty of Science in Administration and the Faculty of Science and Engineering from the University of Laval. The mission, the organization's third annual assignment abroad, is made up of ten students from each faculty and is the first initiative to couple students with both commercial and technical specializations. This year's mission to Bogota, Columbia, takes place in May 1999 and lasts for a period of three weeks.

As a corporate sponsor for this initiative, Silanis Technology Inc. has the opportunity for foreign business development while contributing to the education of students from the University of Laval by providing them with the funds needed to travel abroad and to gain experience in an international business setting. As part of the mission, student teams provide their assigned company with high caliber research with regard to the foreign territory, studies of local businesses, identification of potential distributors, agents and partners, export details particular to that market, and analyses of marketing strategies. Finally, the students act as representatives of the company, presenting and promoting the company's product(s) to key individuals while abroad. Other corporations benefiting from the initiative include Groupe CGITM, and Le groupe Canam Manac™.

"The benefits of such a program are far-reaching. By participating, we are investing in both our business and in the futures of local students," remarked Michael Laurie, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Silanis. "Columbia offers major possibilities for commercial development and for adoption of information technology. It is an excellent market in which to introduce ApproveIt™., Silanis' off-the-shelf electronic approval solution that utilizes advanced digital signature technology, electronic signature capabilities and document automation functions to allow corporate users to manage and streamline their business approval processes."
