US Air Force Purchases More Licenses of eSignLive’ Electronic Signature Solution for Its Mission-Critical Applications

April 19, 2009
Montreal, QC, April 20 2009 – Silanis Technology today announced that the US Air Force (USAF) has purchased additional licenses of its electronic signature solution for its Global Combat Support System (GCSS) to mirror the configuration of two mission critical applications: the Defense Enterprise Accounting and Management System (DEAMS ) and the Purchase Requisition Process System (PRPS) application. The original licenses were purchased by the USAF in 2006 as part of an enterprise wide agreement with Silanis to enable Web-based form approvals through the GCSS.The objective of the US Air Force’s Global Combat Support System is to provide war fighters with timely, accurate and trusted logistics information worldwide, thereby enabling real-time visibility into troop deployment, supply management and much more.Silanis’ solution helps the US Air Force to achieve this objective by providing personnel spread across the world with the ability to route, sign and store forms requiring signature approval electronically. This enables mission-critical decisions and requests to be instantly authorized, acted upon, and accessed from anywhere in the world. The additional licenses of Silanis’ solution were purchased for the DEAMS and the PRPS applications in response to a Continuity of Operations (COOP) initiative by the Department of Defense (DoD). COOP seeks to ensure “uninterrupted, essential DoD component functions across a wide range of potential emergencies, including localized acts of nature, accidents, and technological and/or attack related emergencies”.DEAMS supports the accounting and financial management functions of the US Air Force, the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS). The PRPS is an initiative to streamline the Air Force's purchase requisition process, from the requirements to the contracting stage, and is part of ongoing modernization efforts. Both applications run on the USAF GCSS service-oriented architecture. The Silanis solution driving the electronic signature capabilities behind the GCSS is ApproveIt XHTML Server. This server-based solution integrates electronic approval and signature capabilities into Web processes through corporate Internet, Extranet or Intranet sites.ApproveIt XHTML Server also complements Silanis’ ApproveIt® Desktop solution, allowing organizations to electronically sign forms and documents including IBM Lotus Forms, Microsoft InfoPath forms, Microsoft Word documents, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and Adobe Acrobat files. ApproveIt Desktop has been the leading electronic signature solution for signing forms and documents for over a decade with enterprise deployments across the US Army, the US Joint Chiefs of Staff and major installments across hundreds of other government and commercial organizations.
