eSignLive announces release of ApproveIt® Desktop 5.2: Commercially available off-the-shelf electronic signature software

Montreal, Qc, October 10, 2001 — Silanis Technology Inc. today announced the release of version 5.2 of ApproveIt® Desktop and ApproveIt® CAD Desktop, the company’s commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) electronic signature and approval management software for e-signing documents created with the most widely used software applications.

Version 5.2 further enhances business process flow across existing systems, enabling a fully electronic process and maximizing IT investments. For example, organizations can use version 5.2 to program eBusiness systems—such as a document management system—to automatically extract approval data from e-signed documents. The approval data extracted from a signed purchase order, for example, can then be used to automatically trigger ancillary processes, such as the generation of an invoice and shipping notice.

In addition, version 5.2 provides greater functionality to end-users with the introduction of the “Save Unsigned Copy” feature. It allows people to save a copy of a signed document to a new file, without including the signatures and audit trail information. This makes it easy to create new documents that are built on entire sections or pages of approved text, since people no longer need to copy and paste text into a new file.

Users who sign Adobe® Acrobat® (PDF) files or Autodesk® AutoCAD® drawings will also benefit from version 5.2’s “Batch” feature. Previously available only in Microsoft® Word and Excel, the Batch command now allows people to batch approve, verify and print all four file formats.

Other enhancements available in version 5.2 include binary signing, and increased support for Palm™ and Microsoft® Windows® CE.
