eSignLive announces US Army Enterprise E-Signature Usage Continues to Expand

October 12, 2011
Montreal, QC, October 13, 2011—Silanis,

the most widely used electronic signature provider among leading government and financial institutions including the US General Services Administration, Air Force Global Combat Support System, US Bank, and Liberty Mutual is pleased to announce that the US Army has renewed its annual electronic signature enterprise license support with Silanis Technology. Seven years after implementing the largest e-signature initiative in government to date, the US Army continues its move towards a paperless operation.  The Army Audit Agency validated the use of electronic signatures which is expected to save the US Army $1.3 billion every year once the Army Publishing Content Management System ("APCMS") is fully implemented. This initiative is aimed at transforming US Army operations by eliminating paper from forms-based processing.

Tommy Petrogiannis, Silanis' founder and C.E.O. commented: “With the Army’s direction towards fully web based, zero client e-forms solutions, Silanis added native e-signature integration to the IBM Forms server allowing Army users to sign an e-form in a browser-only environment. In addition, this new functionality includes interoperability between client based and zero client based solutions. Army personnel can start the signing process with the Silanis/IBM forms solution in a zero client, web browser-only mode while maintaining the option to complete the process offline at a later date.

The US Army first began integratingSilanis' electronic signature solution into the APCMS in 2005. In addition to the substantial cost-savings, the solution helps to keep US Army personnel out of harms way by eliminating the need to send convoys into hostile territories in order to obtain signed approvals. Authorization can now be completed electronically from anywhere in the world. To date 2,500 of the most critical Department of Army forms have been digitized and made available to more than 1.6 million users. Once fully deployed, this project will represent the largest e-signature and e-forms deployment in the world. Silanis' electronic signature solution

is used in conjunction with IBM Content Manager and IBM Forms to also reduce cycle times, data-entry efforts and errors. For example, the Army estimates that two hours will be saved each time an evaluation report is processed electronically, for a potential annual savings of $28 million. Furthermore, it is estimated that pre-populating forms with data will result in saving each person in the Army an estimated 30 minutes per day.
