eSignLive Introduces New EBusiness Applications For PKI Digital Certificates

April 9, 2000

Silanis announced today support for PKI digital certificates with its newly released ApproveIt™ 4.5 electronic signature approval software.

(AIIM) New York City, April 10, 2000 — Silanis Technology Inc. announced today support for PKI digital certificates with its newly released ApproveIt™ 4.5 electronic signature approval software. Now in its fourth generation, ApproveIt is the industry's first and only out-of-the-box solution to support multiple electronic signature approval processes. With version 4.5, ApproveIt allows PKI enabled companies using VeriSign, Entrust, RSA, Baltimore Technologies, and Netscape to now bring all their business approval processes on-line.

ApproveIt 4.5's unique support for multiple signatures and sectional form signing introduces new business applications for digital certificates. Not only can companies safely send information over the Internet and identify the authenticity of a message sender using x.509 v3 digital certificates, they can now also capture peoples' electronic signature approvals over the Web and then safely route the signed document internally for additional signature approvals using ApproveIt 4.5.

"As the most widely used technology to secure data transmission over the Internet, companies using or evaluating PKI can add even more compelling applications," says Michael Laurie, Vice President of Alliances at Silanis. "Using ApproveIt, they can now complete eBusiness transactions with customers, suppliers and trading partners through electronically signed documents and data."

Using a unique technology called Intelligent SignatureTM, ApproveIt 4.5 duplicates a legally binding, pen and paper approval process in an electronic environment. Just like a wet ink process, ApproveIt 4.5 permanently binds multiple electronic signatures to the exact contents of a document. Once electronic signatures are applied to a document, they cannot be deleted or transferred into another document, and the contents of a document cannot be changed, without the signatures becoming invalid. This protects the integrity of all signatures and the document's contents.

Offering the same benefits as pen and paper, people can quickly and easily sign electronic documents created in a wide variety of software applications and computing devices using the same electronic signature or ePersona. ApproveIt can be used with HTML, XML, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Jetform FormFlow, digitized documents, and database forms. People can electronically sign documents on a desktop PC, laptop, Palm Pilot or WinCE device. This allows users to leverage their existing knowledge of popular business applications at both the office and in a mobile environment, and gets companies on-line today without additional hardware, software or programming.
