Introducing ApproveIt™ 4.5, the only out-of-the-box software to support multi-signature, electronic business approval.

(FOSE) Washington DC, April 18, 2000 — Silanis Technology Inc. announced today the release of ApproveIt™ 4.5; an electronic signature approval software that enables companies to securely sign documents or forms between multiple individuals over the Internet. With 90 % of organizations requiring more than one signature as part of their standard work procedures, ApproveIt delivers a critical component for maintaining end-to-end electronic communication and accelerating eBusiness processes.

ApproveIt's unique support for multiple signatures and sectional form signing enables companies to electronically capture customer and supplier signatures on forms, applications, and contracts, and route them internally for additional electronic approval processing. Each ApproveIt user is given an ePersona - a digital identity consisting of an electronic image of their handwritten signature. Unique to each user, an ePersona is securely encrypted and can only be accessed via personal password.

Once the ePersona has been created, ApproveIt's unique Intelligent Signature™ technology duplicates a legally binding, pen and paper approval process in an electronic environment. Just like a wet ink process, ApproveIt permanently binds electronic signatures to a document's contents, invalidating them if deleted or copied. As a result, both the integrity of the signature and the document's contents are protected.

ApproveIt can be used right out-of-the-box and integrated easily into a company's existing infrastructure. It does not require additional hardware, software or programming, and works seamlessly with a wide array of popular business applications. By leveraging the knowledge of existing business processes, people do not have to change the way they work. With no time delay due to installation or training, ApproveIt allows companies to move their entire business process on-line today.

"Implementing ApproveIt across Williams is expected to yield enormous benefits for us," says Jim Herbster, Williams' Senior Vice President of Administration. "One of our business units has already realized significant savings using the software in the signing and authentication of documents online, automating more than 200 business processes and eliminating 80 percent of paper shipping costs alone. Similar results are expected in our other units." By eliminating the time delays associated with printing and mailing signed documents, ApproveIt accelerates business processes, enabling companies to improve efficiency and gain new customers faster.

"Some eBusinesses we've spoken to lose 40% of their on-line customers by the time they receive the printed contract agreement for signing," says Tommy Petrogiannis, President of Silanis. "Even though customers fill out an account application, loan agreement or insurance package on-line, they often change their minds during the time it takes to mail it to them. By providing a way for these customers to sign on-line, ApproveIt gives companies a competitive lead."

Offering the same benefits as pen and paper, ApproveIt allows people to quickly and easily sign electronic documents created in a wide variety of software applications and computing devices using the same ePersona electronic signature. It provides stand-alone support for MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and JetForm FormFlow, and can be used on a desktop PC, laptop, Palm Pilot or WinCE device. As a result, users can leverage their existing knowledge of popular business applications both at the office and in a mobile environment.

"ApproveIt is a natural complement to JetForm's FormFlow e-forms processing software," said Dave Welch, group product manager, e-forms at JetForm, a leading provider of e-process solutions. "The combined Silanis and JetForm solution automates and simplifies complicated approval processes into a single, paperless process."

ApproveIt can also be combined with PKI digital certificates from RSA, Verisign, Entrust, and Baltimore Technologies - as well as emerging B2B content management and commerce tools.

"Interoperability is the key to the successful adoption of public key infrastructure in the world of e-commerce," said Scott Schnell, Senior Vice President of Marketing at RSA Security. "We are pleased Silanis has joined the RSA Secured Partner Program and certified the interoperability of its ApproveIt electronic signature approval software and our RSA Keon PKI solutions."

ApproveIt 4.5 is Silanis's fourth generation electronic signature software. It can be purchased from VARs or directly from Silanis for $149.00 USD. New features include PKI support for MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and Jetform FormFlow. ApproveIt 4.5 now supports TIFF images for capturing people's handwritten signatures using a scanner, in addition to a Palm Pilot, WinCE device, mouse and digitizing tablet.
