NW_20031210_en_VASCO Launches VACMAN Middleware 2.1 for RADIUS, Windows and Web Based Environments

December 10, 2003

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill., and BRUSSELS, Belgium, December 10, 2003 - VASCO Data Security International, Inc. (Nasdaq: VDSI) ( www.vasco.com), a global provider of security products that enable e-business and e-commerce, today announced that it has launched VACMAN Middleware 2.1, the newest version of its strong authentication server.

VACMAN Middleware 2.1 boasts a large number of new features. The most important new features are:

  1. VACMAN Middleware 2.1 , in addition to any RADIUS environment, supports Windows and Web-based environments. Due to this feature, the number of potential users of VACMAN Middleware is dramatically expanded.
  2. The integration of VACMAN Middleware 2.1 in Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) and CITRIX is state of the art. This means that VACMAN Middleware is located in the most secured place on the system, while the portal stays in the so called DMZ (demilitarised zone), thus adding a very important asset to VASCO’s range of Digipass Packs for OWA and CITRIX.
  3. VACMAN Middleware 2.1 supports external databases such as Active Directory (AD) and ODBC compliant databases. System and security administrators have the choice to store critical information in the repository of their choice, depending on their company’s policy.
  4. A large number of existing assets of the VACMAN Middleware product have been improved (easier and quicker installation, as well as CHAP support). Visit www.vasco.com for more detailed information.

About VASCO: VASCO designs, develops, markets and supports patented strong user authentication products for e-business and e-commerce. VASCO’s strong user authentication software is delivered via its Digipass security products, small “calculator” hardware devices carried by an end user, or in a software format on mobile phones, other portable devices, and PCs. For user access control, VASCO’s VACMAN products guarantee that only designated Digipass users get access to the application. VASCO’s target markets are the applications and their several hundred million users that utilize fixed passwords as security. VASCO’s time-based system generates a “one-time” password that changes with every use, and is virtually impossible to hack, or break. With 10 million Digipass products sold and ordered, VASCO has established itself as a world-leader for strong user authentication with over 250 international financial institutions, approximately 1200 blue-chip corporations, and governments representing more than 60 countries.
