VASCO MYDIGIPASS Gains SAFE-BIOPHARMA Full-Service Credential Service Provider Certification
OAKBROOK TERRACE, IL and TENAFLY, NJ – August 10, 2016 -- VASCO Data Security International, Inc. (NASDAQ: VDSI), a global leader in digital solutions including identity, security and business productivity, announced today that it has become a certified full-service Credential Service Provider in the SAFE-BioPharma Trust Framework, a unit of the global SAFE-BioPharma™ IT security standard used in the life sciences.
The company has certified its MYDIGIPASS™ identity proofing, multifactor authentication, and federation service to be compliant with the global SAFE-BioPharma digital identity standard. MYDIGIPASS enables application providers to deliver a simple, single, and secure login experience for their users across multiple web and mobile applications.
MYDIGIPASS was certified at NIST Level of Authentication (LOA) 3. LOA 3 is considered the minimum level of assurance required to authenticate end users in most transactions with regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals and health care. Authentication is the process that proves the user's identity to online systems and applications.
VASCO’s multifactor authentication service proves an individual's cyber identity with greater certainty. The factors may be something the user has (e.g., a cell phone to which a one time password may be sent), something the user knows (e.g., a username), or something the user is (e.g., fingerprint, iris scan, or other biometric). Two-factor authentication is required for compliance with the SAFE-BioPharma standard at LOA 3.

Individuals qualifying for a SAFE-BioPharma compliant identity credential can use it to replace all other cyber identities with any company which is a member of SAFE-BioPharma Association or with any other entities with which SAFE-BioPharma has negotiated acceptance, including all US Federal agencies.
