Nusrat Beg, Internal Sales EMEA, based in OneSpan’s Brussels office

What is your role at OneSpan?

I manage contract renewals for direct and channel customers in the UK, Ireland, and Central Asia, which includes Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Azerbaijan and Turkey. I stay in close contact with the customers in my portfolio to stay abreast of their needs. I enjoy building those relationships, finding out the customers’ needs and connecting them with the right contact within our company.

I have been with OneSpan for more than eight years. Time flies! I started in the post-sales department and went through a few internal reorganizations. Through internal growth opportunities, my job became ever-increasingly interesting. My role has grown from processing orders to enabling me to focus on offering quality service and a building a robust relationship with our customers.

Why do you like working for OneSpan?

I like the global aspect of my job and the company in general because it helps me get to know different business cultures and mindsets. For example, in Europe, we prefer knowing the outcome of taking a new approach prior to committing to a project or initiative. However, my American colleagues are more likely to embrace new methods, and I like that because it takes me out of my comfort zone and helps me grow my experience.

That is another great thing about working at OneSpan -- employees are given the opportunity to grow their knowledge and experience by learning on the job. I really appreciate that OneSpan has an internal training team that is always available and ready to help. Cybersecurity is a fast pace industry, so it is important to stay up-to-date.

What qualities do people need to have to be successful here?

In a sales role, you need to be social and eager to work with other people. It is all about building and maintaining relationships. Your customers need to be at ease and trust you have their best interests in mind. It is your job to help customers trust and see the value of our products for their needs.

Another important quality needed when working for an IT company is being willing to learn new things all the time. A little bit of technical interest is also required, because understanding the solutions and offerings is imperative to being able to explain their value.

What are your favorite parts about your job, the team, and the workspace?

When you are open to it, this company gives a lot of opportunities for projects outside of the current job. I personally like to think about the future in different project groups. I was involved in a large project around the new CRM system and currently taking part in the customer success focus group. These projects give me the opportunity to think out-of-the-box and use my job experience to improve the internal processes.

In addition, our group has a group target commission, which makes our teamwork very closely together. It is all about team spirit, communication and collaboration. This is what motivates me in my job.
