Lieselotte Messner, Technical Writer, based in OneSpan’s office in Vienna, Austria

What’s your role at OneSpan?

I work as a technical writer, which means together with the other technical writers in Vienna I write all customer-facing technical documents, as well as descriptions of new products and features. I’m taking care of the OneSpan security products, and my team members in Montreal do the same for OneSpan Sign.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

I enjoy writing in a way that helps our customers clearly understand our solutions. The subject matter is interesting to me because security and e-signatures pertain to everyone – we all need to review and sign contracts or other electronic documents at some point. This makes it easier to relate to our customers. I also enjoy researching, analyzing and learning from subject matter experts.

Working in this business field is never boring because the technologies are evolving at a mind-blowing speed. This can be challenging but it keeps the little grey cells going.

What do you like about working at OneSpan?

I enjoy the international setting and working together with people from many different countries and cultures. I appreciate the team spirit, the sense of loyalty and solidarity at OneSpan, and especially amongst my direct colleagues in Vienna.

With some of my team members, I actually enjoy friendship rather than a pure work relationship. The same is true for many of the developers I work with in the different R&D locations, most prominently Bordeaux where the local team has welcomed me on my frequent trips and has always taken good care of me.

And last but not least: Doris, our head of HR and admin in Vienna, is such a rock for all of us. Without her cheerful, caring, respectful style, OneSpan wouldn’t be the same!

What motivates you at work?

My biggest motivator is the forward-moving direction of the industry, enabling me to grow and learn new things. Also, the team spirit and the will to achieve the best results within the team, the sense of solidarity and mutual support among the team.

What qualities do people need to be successful at OneSpan?

People looking to join OneSpan should be solution-oriented and forward-thinking. You have to know what you do and apply what you learned. You also need to embrace the change and be authentic.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of OneSpan?

I take my dog Ayla for walks. By the way, she also accompanies me to the office every day, so she’s a true OneSpan dog! I also love Flamenco dance. It is the perfect diversion after a hectic working day. The music, the lyrics, the focus on complex movements: nothing clears the head more efficiently.
