OneSpan Sign Release 11.16: Configurable Web Reminders

Duo Liang,

We are excited to announce that Version 11.16 of OneSpan Sign has been deployed to the preview environment as well as sandbox. We have added a Reminders feature to the Web UI, enhanced experience in lost network as well as patches to a few bugs. You can find the deployment dates for all our environments on our Trust Center page.

Let's dive into it!

CONFIGURABLE WEB REMINDERS

The Reminders feature enables a sender to choose how often to notify the recipients of a transaction after the initial prompt that they have not yet signed. We now bring this feature to the Web UI environment. After creating a package, simply go to the edit page and open the "Settings" panel. There, you will find the Reminder feature located at the bottom of the screen.

Below, we've included a screenshot, demonstrating how this feature is implemented.

In this example, we enabled the Reminders feature and scheduled the reminder to repeat multiple times. If the parties involved in the transaction have not signed the document for three days after the initial prompt, they would receive an additional reminder. Every two days after, if the still have not signed, we will send them another gentle reminder until we reach the total amount of scheduled reminders.

If you are using API/SKD to integrate this feature, please check our Reminders Guide for more details.

WHAT MAY INTEREST YOU:

  • The Reminders feature takes recipient order into account. In other words, a notification will only be sent to the recipients whose signature is pending (Signer Workflow Guide).
  • The Reminders feature is at the package level.
  • The number of days in the schedule can only be an Integer.
  • Reminders can't be set in initial package creation and can only be configured in DRAFT status (That's why you won't find this feature in the Settings Panel on the Create New Transaction dialog).

GRACEFUL HANDLING IN LOST INTERNET CONNECTION

To make the experience more friendly, we have now added the detection function. During the signing ceremony, once the internet is detected to be lost, a proper error message will be sent to the signer saying, “You don't have the Internet connectivity and please connect and then try again”. When the internet comes back, the signer can continue to finish the signing ceremony as part of a seamless experience.

BEHAVIOR CHANGE IN DOCUMENT VISIBILITY

You may have noticed that you cannot delete a document when it would cause a signer to have 0 document visible. Previously, once you delete such a document, you would receive an error message prompting you to reset the signer’s visibility or to delete signers who can only see this document. Now, OneSpan Sign gives you more error tolerance as you will now only receive this error message when sending the package.

BUG FIXES

When embedding the signing ceremony in an iFrame in previous versions, the signature capture screen could be so large on iOS devices (particularly in landscape orientation) that it prevents the signer from seeing the clear/confirm buttons. Furthermore, there was no way to adjust the panel size. Now, an optimization has been implemented so that this is no longer an issue.
